East Africa’s great, Diamond Platnumz and Kenya’s finest export, Sauti Sol, will lock horns come September 6th to determine who between them has the upper hand.

Ahem! Most will agree currently Diamond is the most sought after artist from the greater East African region.

But there is no monopoly in EA, Sauti Sol are sufficiently present to deny Diamond the complete take-over.

Diamond boasts of a MAMA award so do Sauti Sol, MTV EMA award. Now the flourishing artists have been pitted against each other on the forthcoming Nigeria Entertainment Awards (NEA).

Even though NEA is completely a Nigerian thing, held to honor talent from the populous West African country, it has a category dedicated to other African talent; African Artist of the Year (Non-Nigerian).

A bigger problem again! Diamond and Sauti Sol aren’t the only heavyweights competing in that category.

AKA, Stoneboy, Eddie Kenzo, Sarkodie are some of the big names in the continent that Diamond and Sauti Sol will have to deal with even before they can start thinking of bagging the prize.

Stoneboy? Does that name ring a bell? The Ghanaian dancehall artists who brushed off competition from Wizkid, Fally Ipupa, Yemi Alade, AKA, Sarkodie and Sauti Sol to win BET award, Best International Act: Africa. Yes he is that underdog!

NEA will be taking place on September 6 in New York City. Diamond Vs Sauti Sol, who will carry the day? Or will they both lose?
